Feb 27, 2020 5:15 PM - 6:15 PM - Leveraging LinkedIn for Lawyers

This program contains 60 minutes of Professionalism Content.

LinkedIn is considered one of the best social media tools for professionals to connect, promote and keep-up-to-date. How can you use it to build your practice, raise your profile and stay on top of issues and trends?

Learn from Imran Ahmad, Partner, Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP, who will tell us his story: what he wanted to achieve when he began his journey with social media, what he did, and in the end, was he successful? Imran will cover some of those pesky issues that lawyers need to keep in mind:

  • Social media is not legal advice
  • Ethical considerations
  • Privacy issues
  • Using LinkedIn (or any social media) for marketing and/or advertising

Practice development consultant Sandra Bekhor will cover the nuts and bolts of LinkedIn for lawyers, including:

  • Starting with a plan, a clear set of goals and a professional identity
  • Treating your profile as an ad and your title as the headline
  • Expanding your connections, strategically
  • Engaging others with original content and by being social
  • Warming prospects and referrers behind the scenes with direct messaging
  • Asking for and giving recommendations

Moderator:
  • Olga Morozova, Claim Counsel (Surety) at Travelers Canada
