Eight months. That’s an articling student's window of opportunity to prove their value to their principal or firm. We invite all articling students/licensing candidates to join us online for these 3 lunchtime sessions to learn how to succeed and lay the best foundations for a career as a lawyer.

Part 1: A Partner and an Associate Telling It Like It Is - What, How and Why

Mary Paterson and Alexandra Alacchi, lawyers at Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP with expertise in litigation and corporate law respectively, will discuss what they look for when working with articling students/licensing candidates. They will explain how to make yourself indispensable and will cover a variety of topics including communication, collaboration, managing expectations, work habits, and networking.

Part 2: Legal Research - The Secret to your Success

An experienced law librarian will cover the methodology of legal research and will explain how to research quickly, efficiently and exhaustively.

Part 3: Time Management and Mental Health

This presentation will discuss time-management and mental health issues for articling students/licensing candidates and will provide helpful advice for managing procrastination, stress, and distraction as well as mental health risks and stressors specific to the legal profession.
